Pete LeClair
Pete LeClair is back!! Pete LeClair lives in Gardner, Massachusetts. Pete was elected to the Caricature Carvers of America in 1994. Lanky figures, eggheads, clowns, and grizzled faces are all part of the carving repertoire of Pete LeClair. A resident of Gardner, Massachusetts, Pete has been carving since 1979. Pete began showing his work in 1990. In 1994, he took best of show for his caricatures at the Susquehanna Decoy and Woodcarving Show held in Pennsylvania. Pete was inducted that same year into the Caricature Carvers of America. An energetic and inspiring instructor, Pete is often on the road. He has conducted seminars across the United States, Australia, and England.
Pete loves to exaggerate his figures, and that usually
begins with the faces. Bulbous
noses, oversized ears, crooked teeth, and expressive eyes are typical of his
style. A body may have large
hands, extra-long legs, and oversized feet.
Pete avoids roughed-out carving blanks in his classes, he prefers a
more methodical approach.
J. Christopher White (Chris
White) is a truly unique combination of sculptor and poet.
Through his hands, the aged weathered Texas Juniper woods are
transformed into shining examples of grace and movement.
His studies in Wildlife Biology at Texas Tech University and five
years of studying Human Anatomy at the National Institute of Fine Arts in
Mexico are both evidenced in his portfolio of birds, fish, mammals, and
moving depiction of men, women, and children.
Exquisite craftsmanship, truly unique design and moving pointed
messages have served to place pieces in museums and private collections
internationally. White’s signature style of realism flowing into stylized
forms and ultimately abstracts of fluid twists and spins continually win him
top honors aft national and international carving competitions, including 2
time winner of Best in World Interpretive Wood Sculpture at the Ward World
Wildfowl Carving Championships and Best in Show at the International
Woodcarver’s Congress. Chris currently resides in Loveland, Colorado with
his wife Sharlane and their two children, Brent and Kirsten, ages 18 and 13
respectively. Although a Colorado resident he still travels to Texas several
times a year to collect wood.
Santas, Animals and Miniatures are only part of Pat Moore’s carving tool
kit. Pat Moore from Kindred,
North Dakota, has been painting and sculpting since her early childhood.
After college she became involved in woodcarving and has been
teaching her techniques since the early 80's. She is both a gifted carver
and painter and is especially known for her miniature realistic wildlife
pieces.
Several local, regional and international publications have featured her in
their magazines. "Wood Carving Illustrated" spring 2006 and “Chip Chats”
winter 2009 both have done articles. In 2007, Pat was filmed for HGTV’s
“That’s Clever” TV program demonstrating carving a Miniature Flying Mallard.
As a teacher, she enjoys sharing her woodcarving and painting techniques,
both in adult educations programs and nationally known seminars throughout
the country.
